Open containers ok?

I know I am going to sound like a lush but I really am not a big drinker! Can you have open containers of alcohol on the beach in MB? If yes, bottles ok? I know some places that prohibit open containers are actually a little lax on enforcement as long as you are discreet...pouring into a cup etc. Just looking to see what the deal is in MB. Thanks!

Open containers ok?

It is illegal to have alcohol on the beach. As long as it%26#39;s in a cup or can with a cozie on it you%26#39;d probably be fine but I strongly suggest no glass bottles. They will get you for that if they see it. You can%26#39;t have glass on the beach for obvious reasons

If you are discreet, probably OK. BUT++ you cannot unbreak a bottle, glass containers are just too dangerous. I spend part of every daily walk on the beach picking up trash left by inconsiderate people.

While I do not own the beach, it is my front yard when we are in our condo. Please, everyone, treat it like you would your own front yard.

Ok thanks, no bottles! Don%26#39;t worry about me and my family, we were raised to leave the area better than we found it!

Sage advice, no matter what the activity ! If we could only get the smokers to adhere to this philosophy.

The above comments are my feedback also. Don%26#39;t draw attention and you can sip to your heart%26#39;s content.

Have fun !

Keep it under wraps and you will be fine. A Cozie is a must and you will be OK. Just don%26#39;t make it obvious and they will leave you alone. Good calls on the bottles, cans only.

Yes, the key is to be discreet.

As everyone has posted discreet is the key. It is against the law to have any open container including a cup but we do it every time we go.

Just keep it covered and act like you have some sense and you should be fine.

South Carolina Coast Tour

Hi,

Our plans are to travel from Jacksonville to Myrtle Beach, stopping in Savannah and Charleston as well as the other two places. Any advice or helpful suggestion as to what to visit on the way and which hotels to stay in would be most welcome.

Thanks

South Carolina Coast Tour

Savannah and Charleston are two of my favorite places to visit. We like to stay at a place called Palm Key, www.PalmKey.com , which is located between the two cities. The Palm Key cottages are on the marsh, beautiful and relaxing, and have full kitchens and laundry. Ask for the current special price - they often have one available. We take day trips from Palm Key, visiting both Savannah and Charleston, as well as some of these places on each trip:

Beaufort SC, a charming Southern town and great art town with a deep water harbor, historic buildings and churches, shops and places to eat.

If you like the beach, try the less crowded and more natural beach at Hunting Island State Park and climb to the top of the lighthouse for a great view (road out of Beaufort). Or, if you like the bustle of a resort area, try the Hilton Head Island Beaches - you can even rent bicycles and ride on the broad flat sandy beach here.

The Ashley River Road Plantations - 3 fabulous and very different plantations are open to the public - is another fun day trip. Visit the Audubon Swamp at Magnolia Plantation, or visit the Francis Beidler Forest (another swamp).

If you want a truely local experience, have dinner at Harold%26#39;s Country Club (near Palm Key). It is a very casual place frequented by everyone.

Definitely log onto the Charleston, SC forum (beware, there is a Charleston, WV forum - quite different place) as well as the Savannah forum.

When will you be traveling and who is in your party? (Ages - no, you don%26#39;t have to be specific! :)

Also - how much time for your total trip and do you have specific plans for Myrtle Beach? Thanks.

Hi,

We are two couples all in our 50%26#39;s. We are going to take two weeks to do this trip. I have looked at the hotels just in Savannah and they seem very expensive is Charleston the same. We may have to stay outside the towns as $150 to $200 is far too much.

Thanks

You might save some money by trying this.. do 2 days in Jacksonville, 2 in Savannah, rent a house for a week at the beach in Charleston, finish up in Myrtle beach for the last 2-3 days.

If it works out that you%26#39;ll be in Charleston from a Saturday to a Saturday, that%26#39;ll be easy.

north beach plantation

Hi,

I have reservations at North Beach Plantation for the week of July 11th and I was wondering if anyone has any information on the progress they are making.

Thanks!!!

I have reservations the first week of August. I was told the pools are completed and they were waiting for units to close and furnished. Here is a link that has completed pics. I noticed that they just hit my credit card for my deposit. I can%26#39;t wait to stay-looks great.

Hilton - Nice Story

I just want to put in a good word here for the Hilton which is next to the Royale Palms. Recently I joined the ranks of the unemployed that is unfortunately sweeping across the U.S. I was a salaried employee.

I called the Hilton to let them know my situation. I told them I am looking to cut my costs but wanted to keep my reservation. They upgraded my room and added the free breakfast option for us at no additional charge. I just thought that was nice of them and with so many people losing their jobs these days that may become a selling point for others to follow also.

:-)

Hilton - Nice Story

That was very nice of them. Be sure to ask them if they will also eliminate your $10 per day parking fee and your $10 per day Internet fee. They may do this as well.

Hilton - Nice Story

So did they upgrade you and give you free breakfast along with a discount too?

Just wondering since you said you wanted to save money?

So sorry about your job! Glad they stepped up to the plate for you:-)

Thanks JJ. No discounts Greeneyes just an upgrade and the free breakfast thrown in!

well, that is a big savings. Breakfast everyday for the family. Great! Sorry to hear about your job. Have a great trip.

Views at the Marriott Resort at Grand Dunes

I have reserved a room at the Marriott Resort at Grand Dunes. The conference price is $189. Does anyone know what the view is for the least expensive rooms? Thanks, Wendy

We are staying in SEA PINES and get an hr of free TENNIS per day with our rental. Does anyone know what it cost to rent raquets?

    Tennis?

Check Players World at Fresh Market Shoppes. You might be able to get a demo racket for free.

    Putt Putt's

Can someone tell me if all the putt putt%26#39;s in Myrtle Beach are still open in October? If so, do they close during any season of the year?

    Putt Putt's

They should probably be open in October. There are a few indoor that stay open year round.

    Putt Putt's

Most should be open then. About 1/2 of them stayes open year around.
