While on vacation this past Sept. in Myrtle Beach we (my family and I) were approached about checking out the new South Beach Resort. We liked what we saw and heard and chose a sampler package. I am paying for this monthly by it being withdrew from my account. Since then I have heard a few things and have been advised to try to get out of my contract. I have been told that ownwership has already changed to they are filing for bankruptcy. If anyone knows anything for sure please let me know. I love my time spent at Myrtle Beach and can choose from many nice places to stay and pray I have not got into something that may cause any bad memories of my last family vacation. Thanks for any info!

Them timeshare people are/were everywhere in Myrtle Beach. Restaurants, stores, etc. I said no and was still getting asked why by them. I hope that ou get out of it.

dna-akrs I%26#39;ve searched the web, even the Sun News, to look for South Beach bankruptcy but found no such news.
Have been in MB last 10 days. Nothing in the local papers about this.
Thanks for all of your responses. It eases my mind some but I do know that the sales agent said South Beach Resort was also owned by the same company as Broadway at the Beach. I have also been told that there is some trouble (financial) going on with that. I hope I am just being messed with a little by friends because it%26#39;s not in my nature to make a venture of this sort. My family is steadily growing (unlike my finances) and at the time seemed like a great and less expensive way for us all to vacation together. I would call but figured for now I probably would not get a straight answer. If anything new is heard of please reply. Donna
I%26#39;m an owner there. South Beach Resort is owned by Burroughs and Chapin, so bankruptcy is unlikely. They have about as deep pockets as anyone. Last year we were told of possibility of them selling their timeshare interest, but nothing has happened on that front to my knowledge.
If you hear anything else concrete, I would definitely like to know about it.
I%26#39;ve seen nothing on local TV news or in the Sun, but I did notice the sales building where they used to ';work you over'; (on Kings Hwy around 20th Ave. S) is closed %26amp; roped off.
Now I am getting worried. We bought a 6 night stay, while on a tour last July. So I called the numbers given to me by the sales agent and I didn%26#39;t even get a ringtone. I called the resort information number and the recording said they were closed today. Closed on a Friday at 11:30 am, must be taking a snow day? So, I called their reservations desk and told them I heard news about the resort and the sales office being closed.
The person on the other end said The sales office is closed January and February for revamping during the off season and will be opening back up. She also said my vacation reservations will be there for me when I arrive in July. I guess I will have to wait and see in July. I will be watching more closely though, and I will also call the resort information number Monday and ask them.
I%26#39;m not worried, and I shelled out a boatload of money to buy into this place.
There is no way Burroughs and Chapin are going bankrupt. There is a possibility that they would sell, in which case they are selling all of the current sampler packages that go along with it. (New owner is going to want to try to sell you too.)
The only thing I would suggest, is if you do like it so much that you want to buy there, don%26#39;t buy from the developer, and wait to buy on the secondary market.
I read on tripadvisor%26#39;s South Beach Resort reviews that the Resort has changed hands and it will go into affect in April. Anybody hear anything on this? We have a vacation booked in July and I am worried about new ownership. I forked out some good money last year, that, this year, I could have gotten Oceanfront for cheaper.
I am an owner there. They did sell to a company called Orange lake resorts.(holiday inn club vacations). go to holidayinnclub.com/learnmore for more info. Hope that helps. Everything is suppose to stay the same. Except there will be more home resorts and the TN resort is changing it%26#39;s name.
