If given the choice for a four bedroom condo rental for a week in May, would you choose Crescent Shores or Ashworth? We found a very reasonable deal for approx. $900 for the week at either. Does that sound reasonable or too good to be true for the week of 5/16?
Crescent Shores or Ashworth
Wow that is a deal. Almost sounds too good to be true for a four bedroom.
Crescent Shores or Ashworth
They are both through VRBO which makes me feel better about it. That third week of May seems to be one of the cheaper weeks that month for most places.
You will be at the end of Harley week (and yes I believe we will still have harley week and AB Bikefest) and Bikefest participants will start to roll in on Wed and Thursday of that week. That is why it is cheaper. Neither resort allows Motorcycles or Trailers.
However, VRBO%26#39;s sometimes do rent to bikers, in that event, they are asked to move their bikes or vacate premise. No bikes means no bikes, even if you did rent it thru VRBO. (Think they have the don%26#39;t ask don%26#39;t tell policy)
We decided to go with the condo at Crescent Shores. That%26#39;s good to know about the bikes. It does say in the listing that bikes are not allowed. We are not bikers, and have a 1 year old, so I%26#39;m hoping the place isn%26#39;t over run with bikers. I realize that most of the bikers are not ';rowdy'; but when I think bike week, I think loudness.
You got a steal! You%26#39;ll like Crescent Shores and no bikes will be there unless it%26#39;s an owner. You%26#39;ll see a few in the city but it%26#39;s a great week to be at the beach. Have fun.
What will we have available around us for bars and restaurants within walking distance? I%26#39;m not having much luck finding whats in the surrounding area. I%26#39;ve been to NMB before but it%26#39;s been a while and not really familiar with the Crescent Shores location.
We booked Crescent Shores too for what seems to be a great price. We%26#39;ve talked with several condo owners %26amp; a majority of them are offering substantial discounts for early bookings due to the recession.
I%26#39;ve never been there but it looks like a very nice place. I would love to hear a trip report after you return.
Molly Darcy%26#39;s is directly next door, Irish Pub where you can eat out on the deck and watch the Parasail, banana boat rides. Beachwear shop across street, and a tiki bar block away at Best Western, those are your closest businesses.
I have stayed at Crescent Shores about 4 times. It is a great deal at $900 for the week for a four bedroom. They are very roomy and most are equipped with all you need. However, I think they have let the place get run down. I am not sure the management is taking great care of the complex. I probably won%26#39;t stay there again but will choose to stay at Blue Water Keyes, just a little south of Crescent Shores. A great little restaurant that we found on Main Street called Hoskin%26#39;s. It is a family owned restaurant with great food. We visit everytime we go to North Myrtle Beach.
Beachlver...what did you find that was run down about Crescent Shores? I own a condo there and stay there around 30 days per year at different times of the year. Just wondering what needs fixing...I don%26#39;t see it.
The buildings will be 5 years old this June. They did have an original exterior ceiling problem where the ceiling contractor used the wrong ceiling texture and that stayed in litigation for a while. 99-100% of that has been corrected. Being oceanfront and a good windy local (like ALL other oceanfront locals), sometimes keeps up with cleaning blowing sand is a job but it%26#39;s a job someone is on daily. The HOA pays good money ($1000%26#39;s of dollars per condo...nearly 10%26#39;s of 1000%26#39;s) for upkeep, repair and improvements. Let%26#39;s just say ~ $2,000,000+/year as a guesstimate. Individual condos and their interior amenities are up to the owner...don%26#39;t put all the tickets in one hat! Most of the owners I know and have talked to, take pride in their rental properties and provide very good amenities for their guests. They/we would CERTAINLY like to know what needs improving or what you perceive as ';run down';. We believe it was one of the very best properties on the Grand Strand in June of 2004 and we believe it is today and will be throughout 2009 and beyond. Let me know and I%26#39;ll either see that you concerns are addressed or beg to differ with your opinion.
