OK I know MB passed ordnances to discourage the event, but I see the web sites saying it is still on, just outside of MB city limits. Unfortunately I am booked May 9 to 14 in NMB at Kingston Plantation with buddies on a golf outing.
Is the event still as big in years past clogging the streets and restaurants?
Bike Week May 8 to 19
I think it will be less crowded but no one really knows how many people will actually come since this is the first rally since the ordinances were passed
Bike Week May 8 to 19
Interesting, I thought it was the second year. Thanks
First year. Most new city ordnances became official in February. The SC chief justice is already casting aspersions, primarily on the administrative procedures for handling tickets.
Despite the efforts of the City of MB, many surrounding areas continue to welcome the events with open arms. It should be an interesting year for the biking events and participants.
PD thank you.
From what I gather reading the biker sites, the party is on and no one knows the scale. Only thing known is MB will not license vendors and organized events like burnouts, welcome bikers, and bikers better wear helmets while passing thorough town. Otherwise all communities around the area welcome and license sponsors/events so all official sales/events will be outside MB city limits.
Is that accurate?
In other words watch your step in MB but otherwise streets, restaurants, bars, and hotels will be clogged and boobies flashing? I have problems with all but one scenario; you can guess which one I don’t have a problem with.
Hey homeboy -
Let me take a wild guess which one... %26lt;:-))
You%26#39;re pretty much right on. Horry County is making an effort to spread out vendor locations, hopefully to minimize serious bottlenecks on the road. It%26#39;s also probably a stretch to say ALL other communities are welcoming, but the City of MB is the only one with restrictive ordnances. The biggies as far as bikers are concerned are helmet and noise restrictions. City law enforcement will be working those two heavily. Of course, they%26#39;ll be outnumbered, as usual.
You%26#39;re also right about scale. Publicly, the local HD dealer is expecting turnouts similar to the past. IMO, the economy will have as much impact as anything else. A lot of the bikers travel quite a distance, and many of them just finished an expensive week in Daytona. We%26#39;ll see...
PD thanks you guessed right(.)(.)
My big concern is staying in NMB at Kingston Plantation near Hard Rock Park, and the whole are really only has two main roads Kings and Kings Hwy. Got tee times and do not look forward to taking hours to go to/from, or wating in long lines to eat. Get enough of that in Vegas.
I%26#39;m actually hopeful that Horry County%26#39;s efforts to spread out the vendor locations will help with some of the traffic situations. Depending upon which courses you%26#39;re playing, be sure to take advantage of Hwy 31. Hwy 17 will intersect with Hwy 22 just north of you, and Hwy 22 will take you right out to Hwy 31. It%26#39;s a great North-South road. Meals are a different story. Like peanut butter? %26lt;G%26gt; Good luck and have fun!
