How is this recession affecting Myrtle Beach's life?

We booked our vacation to North Myrtle Beach for July 2009 and I would like to know how is the recession affecting South Carolina and its lifestyle. Any useful info from locals? Thank you

I%26#39;ll be curious to hear from locals too! We are there late June/early July this year. Last year in late July when we went to MB for a week we were feeling a slowdown even then.

I know this is not the recession but last year the gas prices made traffic a lot less. You could go from NMB to Broadway straight without the normal slow downs at restaruant row.

The recession is actually what helped us decide to come back to MB. We had vacationed in VB for the past 5 years but their pricing for accomodations is WAY more than MB. Since the price of gas is down ( and hopefully stays that way) it was actually ALOT less to drive the extra 4 hours to MB. The beach itself in VB is nicer but the resturants and lodging can%26#39;t be beat in MB. Others may find this to be true as well and might actually help MB%26#39;s economy.

I agree. Our family vacationed in MB last August. When planning this year%26#39;s vacation, we considered staying in Ocean City, MD. However, condos in OC are much more expensive, and the resorts there do not have lazy rivers, multiple pools, etc. So, we decided to head to MB again as you get more for the money.
