Please help with hotel decision

This will be my first trip to Charleston. I am having trouble deciding on which hotel to stay at with my wife. I will be staying for 2-3 nights before moving on to Kiawah Island and would like to experience the rich history of this beautiful city.

I was trying to choose between Planters Inn, Charleston Place, Harbour View Inn and French Quarter.

I would appreciate any and all input and any other suggestions.

So this is when I become jealous of people who don%26#39;t live here - you get to stay here! I wish I had the chance to stay at these hotels so I can answer ';first hand';, but instead I read the reviews. I was impressed with the way that the Management of the better hotels seemed to log in - has to be every day - to comment on reviews - often times just to say ';thanks for the review';. On occasion, they had to address something not so pleasant but did a classy job assuring readers that the situation has been resolved and always took ownership of the problem instead of saying ';not true';.

You have probably heard that the Harbour View got ';the highest'; accolades lately - but it looks like you really can%26#39;t go wrong with any of your choices.(I%26#39;m assuming you%26#39;ve read the Trip Advisor reviews) Maybe I can find some ';slow night'; deals and compare all 5! For now - spin the wheel and enjoy your visit to Charleston!

Those are all great options. I personally prefer the French Quarter Inn or the Harbourview Inn. I think that those 2 include more in the rate and have a more cozy and less pretentious atmosphere.
