Sea Pines Beach

This year we are staying in Sea Pines and I don%26#39;t know much about the beach. We have stayed in Palmetto Dunes since i was a kid. Are they easy to access? Would you drive, take a stroller or bike? Is there an access map somewhere? Thanks.

Sea Pines Beach

The beach at Sea Pines has two main access areas, one about mid-plantation at about 115 North Sea Pines Drive, the other is closer to South Beach.

The North Sea Pines Drive access is the bigger of the two and has a decent amount of parking (fills up quick though in the summer) food sales and a bar, also small surf shop, bathrooms, and a place to rinse off sandy self, chairs, etc. Most people in Sea Pines go to this part of the beach. My family general drove from Swallowtail and always eventually found a parking spot, though sometimes that might take 10 minutes if you go during mid-day.

I can%26#39;t speak to the amenities at the other access point, as I%26#39;ve never actually used it, just biked past it en route to South Beach marina.

There are also many short paths that lead from the road to the beach all along the plantations shoreline. These lead through the woods, behind houses, over the dunes and then to the beach. Don%26#39;t expect lifeguards at these places.

Closer to the dunes is soft dry sand, but much harder packed sand that can be biked on or perhaps a more off-roadish stroller can handle.

Sea Pines Beach

We biked along the beach in Sea Pines (starting from the area around the South Beach Marina; we rented our bikes there). The biking was sensational.

We stay in Sea Pines every year, and never drive anywhere while in Sea Pines. Bikes with baskets are the way to go! This is my kids favorite part of Hilton Head, the great bike paths. Lunch for kids at the Beach Club is reasonable so no reason to bring anything but lotion and towels!
